Aniara is a really good, short, book that I can recommend if you ever come across it. Unfortunately not in print anymore.. It's a sci-fi epos written by Harry Martinson during the cold war and consists of 103 "songs". It's about the passengers on a spaceship leaving earth after a nuclear holocaust, bound for Mars but an accident put them off course into deep space. Not really a "fun" read but it's rather beautiful, dark and interesting to read. A lot of difficult words though so it is definitely not easy to understand at times.
